Coffee Stirrer Art Work

A while ago I was browsing art on Pinterest for my infamous green wall that I have been dying to do something with for the past year.

I have a vision and have been searching for just the right combination of art to display there. When I say this Coffee stirrer tutorial from makeanddogirl.com I KNEW I would NEED to incorporate this somehow in my wall.

I soon headed to the nearest Dollar King and got some supplies that were needed. ( I had most colors on hand but need the actual stirrer)

Supplies needed:
Acrylic paint in your chosen colors
Coffee stirrers
Small paint brush
Wax Paper
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Picture frame of your choosing

Let’s get started!

Start off by laying down some wax paper ( I first tried newspaper and as the paint dried I needed to rip them off the news paper so I then tried the wax paper and they just slid right off)and than start painting your stirrer. There is no wrong or right way to do this. You will need to paint as much as needed to fill in your frame. You are in charge of the creativity aspect of what is pleasing to your eye here. After I painted my stirrers I let them dry for about 30 minutes and gave them a 2nd coat . I also let that dry for another 30 minutes. ( I am sure they were dry sooner but I was multitasking so this worked out for me)

I happen to have a frame that had a broken glass from another project I had done in the past and decided to put that frame to use. My frame as you can see had different sections so I decided to outline them on the cardboard for easier placement later.

I decided to do each outline completely before moving on to the other so I laid out my stirrers, trimmed them and hot glued them before moving on to the next. ( This is because I wanted to see the colors and keep them in that specific order. You can simply pick your colors and glue if you want.)

Once I was done with all these easy steps this is what I ended up with! I must say that I am VERY happy with the outcome of this project. It was so simple to make and I will get such a gratifying feeling every time I walk by my wall to know that I am the one who made that.
